Can a Microsoft Certification Really Help You in Today’s Job Market? | |
According to global market intelligence firm IDC, worldwide spending on IT training will increase through 2012, suggesting the demand for technical skills is growing. While this prediction is encouraging, it doesn’t specify which fields within the IT industry are primed for growth. And with the technology business being so broad, you might be wondering which particular training programs will increase your value as a professional. “I don't want to sit through a five-day course on something if only two hours of it is relevant to my job,” said Jay Ferron, CIO of Interactive Security Training, in an interview with the British Computer Society. A certified Consumer Support Technician himself, Ferron believes earning a Microsoft credential is a good way to demonstrate your competence. “That to me means the piece of paper I get at the end is valid and shows I can do something real,” he told the association. So how does Ferron feel about his personal Microsoft training experience? “I am very happy with not just the content, but the structure … of the Microsoft certification story.” Think earning a Microsoft certification could increase your value as a professional?
